inbetweenspaces is excited to announce the launch of The Arcade Project, a public art program in Stones Corner.

In the Stones Corner Plaza video art by Brisbane-based artists is exhibited with works by international artists to create a unique experience of contemporary art. The project aims to build unique connections between area residents, businesses, visitors, buildings and local and international artists. The Arcade Project launches June 10 with new artworks added each fortnight.

Call for Submissions- Fresher Cunts 2010

Fresher Cunts is inbetweenspaces annual showcase for emerging Queensland artists. This year’s instalment will feature a range of artists born or based in Queensland, who have not shown in Fresher Cunts before. Eligible artists are invited to submit proposals for works they would exhibit.

Submissions should be posted (PO Box 16121, Brisbane QLD 4000) or emailed to info@inbetweenspaces.org by 14 May. Submissions will not be returned.

Constellations Launch

To coincide with the Asia- Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art inbetweenspaces a Brisbane-based artist run initiative is running a CONSTELLATIONS project- exhibiting art works by emerging artists and artist-run-initiatives from across the Asia Pacific Region. CONSTELLATIONS will install art across a wide range of in-between spaces in the Brisbane CBD.

…METRO ARTS GALLERY TWO
For the launch of CONSTELLATIONS inbetweenspaces is organising an accumulative video screening project in gallery two of Metro Arts. From the 7-11 December the reel will continuously evolve as numerous artist run initiatives and organizations contribute individual works. The project involves inbetweenspaces, CPU:PRO, Scratch Tile (Japan) and 3 in 1 (Singapore). The opening event is at 6pm December 10.

Artists include: Hannah Edmunds, Scott Morrison, Eve Roleston, Kaori Tazoe and Michael Yuen.

….METRO ARTS FOURTH FLOOR
For the launch of CONSTELLATIONS inbetweenspaces is curating a one night event at !Metro Arts. A range of projects from local and international artists will transform the building’s entire 4th floor into a series of temporary exhibition sites. The project will open 6pm December 10 at !Metro Arts.

Artists include: Santina Amato, Lloyd Barrett, Christopher Cipollone, Alexandra Feu’u, Brooke Ferguson, Tomoki Kakitani, Joaquin Palencia, Johnathon Titheridge and Zheng Yunhan.

Call For Submissions- Constellations Video Art Project

inbetweenspaces is seeking submissions for the video art project ‘Constellations’. Scheduled to coincide with the APT, the project will install contemporary video art from the Asia- Pacific Region in a range of gallery, business and private sites across the Brisbane CBD. The project aims to exhibit different types of video art from a range of practitioners including collaborative, performative and multi-channel works.

In order to be considered for the project submissions must be received by the 27 November 2009

In the submission please include
- name and contact information (including phone number and email address)
- brief artist statement and bio (max A4 page)
- title, date and brief description of proposed work
- DVD of proposed work

please enclose a self addressed, stamped envelope if you would like your submission returned

Tim Woodward and Timothy P. Kerr are the next artists to take up space for a one night experimental project in the !Metro Arts building. Head up to studio 4.7, on level 4 of the !Metro Arts building on Wednesday 16 September at 6pm to check it out.

In conjunction with !Metro Arts, inbetweenspaces is organising a series of one-night exhibitions showcasing works that explore temporary, impermanent and experimental mode of practice. Responding to specific spatial-physical characteristics of the building, the artists are challenged to activate “in-between” areas by playing with spaces not currently used as exhibition sites.

Sarah, Ruth and Danielle were interested in highlighting the potential for other artists to play with these spaces in upcoming talkingUpspace projects.
